JIMMY
SMITS, RAY SANTIAGO, ALICIA VILLAREAL, JOAN SEBASTIAN, ANA

AND LA ONDA AMONG ALL-STAR LINE-UP OF PRESENTERS AT THE 2005
BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS
MIAMI, FL – April
22, 2005 – The 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards will feature
an all-star line-up of presenters made up of top musicians,
actors, and television personalities, including P.Diddy, who
will join these stars with a spectacular appearance. Hailed
as the nation's most important and prestigious Latin music
event, the awards will take place on Thursday, April 28 at
the Miami Arena in Florida, and will be produced and broadcast
live on Telemundo at 7pm (6pm/c). Tickets for the event are
available through Ticketmaster and the Miami Arena Box Office.
A special presentation
by P.Diddy will be at the heart of Latin music's biggest night.
P.Diddy, also known as Sean Puffy Combs, has been one of the
most enduring and successful talents in urban entertainment
over the past decade. His special appearance at the 2005 Billboard
Latin Music Awards is a testament of support to Hispanic artists
who are making inroads in urban music today, with their own
fusion of Latin rhythms in genres like hip hop, rap and reggae.
Leading the list
of this year's presenters are two Hollywood stars: Jimmy Smits,
currently featured on NBC's "The West Wing," and Ray Santiago,
who played the role of Ben Stiller's alleged son in the movie
"Meet the Fockers." They are joined by Alicia Villareal, finalist
in the categories of Regional Mexican Album of the Year, Female
Solo Artist for "Cuando el Corazon se Cruza" and Regional
Mexican Airplay Track of the Year, Female Solo Artist for
"Soy Tu Mujer;" Mexican artist Joan Sebastian, known as the
"people's poet" and a finalist for Latin Tour of the Year;
renowned Mexican singer, Ana Gabriel; Graciela Beltran, a
Billboard Award finalist in the Hot Latin Track of the Year,
Vocal Duet category for "Corazón Encadenado"; Grammy Award-winning
Tejano group, La Mafia; K-Paz de la Sierra, known for its
"duranguense" genre and a Billboard Award finalist in the
category of Regional Mexican Album of the Year, New Artist
for "Pensando en Ti;" bilingual rapper, Pitbull, and Cumbia-Norteña
group, La Onda.
Renowned soap opera
actors join to present awards: from 'La Ley del Silencio",
Jose Angel Llamas, Flora Martinez, Alejandro Chaban; from
"Los Plateados" Mauricio Islas and Tamara Monserrat, from
"Amarte Asi" child star Alejandro Felipe, from "Te Voy a Enseñar
a Querer" Danna Garcia and Miguel Varoni, and from "Prisionera"
Gabriela Spanic.
In addition, Lorena
Rojas, from the popular television series "Zapata;" María
Celeste Arraras, host of "Al Rojo Vivo;" Ana María Polo, host
of "Caso Cerrado," Andres Garcia and Leonardo Garcia from
upcoming reality series "El Principe Azul;" and the finalists
of music reality show "Nuevas Voces de America" will also
be present to honor winners with the much coveted Billboard
Awards.
These artists will
be joined by singer/songwriter Soraya, and previously announced
performers, including Marc Anthony, Marco Antonio Solis, Thalia,
Juanes, Paulina Rubio, Juan Luis Guerra, Olga Tañon, Conjunto
Primavera, Franco de Vita, Aleks Syntek, Daddy Yankee, Christian
Castro, and Crooked Stilo. Soap opera star Saul Lisazo and
renowned Spanish television personality Candela Ferro have
been selected as the official hosts of the show.
