OF AMERICA'S MOST CREATIVE COOKS STIR UP DRAMA AS THEY COMPETE
FOR A CASH PRIZE IN BRAVO'S "THE MILLION DOLLAR RECIPE"
NEW YORK -- April
11, 2005 -- Bravo is following seven individuals on the ultimate
quest for "The Million Dollar Recipe," as they prepare and
participate in America's favorite cooking contest, the Pillsbury
Bake-Off Contest. The new original two-hour documentary is
first in Bravo's feature-length documentary strand. "The Million
Dollar Recipe" premieres Monday, May 2 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
In the world of
competitive cooking, the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest, with
its million dollar grand prize, is as big as the Oscars...
in the eyes of those competing. So it's only fitting that
the 41st contest heats up in Hollywood, CA. One hundred mini-kitchens
transform a giant ballroom into a kitchen arena, where one
hundred finalists cook side-by-side competing for the one
million dollar prize.
"The Million Dollar
Recipe" follows seven of the hopeful contestants all the way
from their home kitchens to the dramatic Bake-Off Contest
in Hollywood. Each contestant rides the emotional roller coaster
of the event and tests themselves in the heat of battle. The
contestants profiled in "The Million Dollar Recipe" range
from Sue, a woman who is a Yale graduate and Richard, a nearly
seven-feet-tall man who is a master of Kentucky clog dancing.
A dedicated housewife, Karen, sees the Bake-Off Contest as
the ideal way to engage in the competition she loves, however,
Sharon, a struggling single mom enters on a whim with the
hope that winning the grand prize can change her life.
"The Million Dollar
Recipe" is produced by Storyhead Productions for Bravo. Elise
Pearlstein is the director and executive producer. Elise Pearlstein
is a documentary filmmaker who has produced, directed and
written documentaries for television and theatrical release,
including her first film "Pink's Famous Chili Dogs," which
premiered at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival and
played frequently at film festivals and on PBS.
